Wednesday mid week walks
A number of club members walk almost every Wednesday, the walk being advertised the Monday before by e mail. We meet as usual at Morrisons, the usual walk rules applying.
If you would like to join us, please contact Andy Bell who will then add you to the circulation list. If a walk takes your fancy we just ask you confirm your attendance. Walks on other days are in the walks list.
Adventure walks
Please see our Adventure Group page for further details about these walks usually held on the 4th or 5th Sunday of each month and for details the next upcoming Adventure Walk
Car Sharing
Car drivers have the right to limit the number of passengers car sharing with them. A suggested car sharing contribution is given for each walk depending on the mileage to and from the start point, in addition to this any car parking fees should be shared between occupants of each car
All Walkers
- You must not walk if you feel unwell or are known to have any infectious disease
- Check the grade of difficulty of any walk that you are considering joining and, if in doubt about your capability of doing the walk, contact the leader before the day of the walk to discuss this.
Things to consider when walking
- Make sure you have suitable clothing and footwear, and carry plenty of refreshments.
- The club’s insurance policy only covers public liability. Arrange your own cover if you want personal accident or holiday cancellation insurance.
- If you are leading a walk make sure that it is not longer or more difficult than you have stated on the published programme.
- Have a shorter version in mind in case the weather deteriorates.
- Take all litter home and leave the picnic area tidy.
- Do not throw stones down hills or into open shafts – you never know who might be below!
- Keep dogs on leads and don’t let them hold up the group when negotiating stiles.
- Check with the walk leader for suitability v. your own capability
- All children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult on all walks, as per the constitution.
- Parking Charges; Please note, passengers are kindly asked to share any parking charges with the driver in addition to the car share contribution
If you find any problems on your route eg blocked paths, broken stiles. Please note the location/grid reference and take a photo if possible then report it to www.ramblers.org.uk or Ian Pickering (Footpath Secretary) please notify any member of the committee when you have done so.
Walk Leaders please try and write a short report after walks and send to us along with any amusing photos for inserting onto our website.
Members of Morley walking club: for further information regarding individual walks, please refer to your personal copy of the current walks programme.
Please note: The constitution was amended at the 2018 AGM.
