Glynis & Sue walk Kilimanjaro - Glynis & Sue, 2 of our very own leaders here at Morley Walking Club are doing this challenge in memory of Ricky the son of Anne Cameron who recently lost his young life tragically a month before his 17th birthday, so they have decided to raise money for Sue Ryder Care - Wheatfields Hospice.   If you would like to sponsor Gynis & Sue click the link to go to their just giving page.  Thank you

 

Bluebell Cottage, St Just-in Roseland (Olive and Andrew’s holiday cottage in Cornwall, to see photos click link) 

 

Bluebell Cottage is a contemporary cottage set in an area of outstanding natural beauty and only a 5 minute stroll from the creek and St Just-in- Roseland Church. It is an ideal base for walkers, sailing enthusiasts, garden lovers and for exploring the beautiful Roseland Peninsula and the rest of Cornwall.  There are small beaches within a 10 minute walk from the cottage, the coastal path, the famous Carrick Roads, St Mawes Castle, Smugglers Cottage and the beautiful Trelissick Gardens are all within easy reach. Information and maps showing local walks are available at the cottage.

 

The cottage is fully equipped for 6 people – 2 doubles and a twin bedded room, main bathroom, en suite shower room and cloakroom, plenty of parking and garden. The lounge has a log burner, flat screen TV and DVD. Other facilities include; fridge freezer, dishwasher, wash/dryer, iron, hair dryer etc. Linen and towels are provided.  It is ideal for walking holidays and exploring Cornwall at any time of year. There are still some vacancies for this September and October and Olive and Andrew offer a discount to MWC members. An exciting new project between YWT and Tarmac has just begun based around Swinden and Threshfield Quarries, near Grassington, and Nosterfield Quarry, between Ripon and Masham. Its aims are to promote the quarrying operations of Tarmac, and the restoration projects when quarrying has ceased, to schools, colleges, conservation bodies and any other groups that are interested.

 

Restaurant Boat - Judith Mary II - (no website please use email address Suzy Kelsall) The Judith Mary is a 72 foot long canal boat which can seat up to 40 passengers, fully central heated and offers a well stocked licensed bar, also offering tea and coffee, serving locally sourced food.  The price per person is inclusive of a two and a half hour cruise along the Upper Peak Forest Canal, situated in Whaley Bridge, High Peak.  The boat is ideal for club  outings, birthdays, anniversaries, Christenings and Weddings.  It also offers public trips for smaller numbers of parties. www.northern.ac.uk  If anyone would like to spend a lovely weekend (residential) learning how to read a map and use a compass in the beautiful setting of Wentworth Castle please go to  www.northern.ac.uk for details.  The course entails a five mile walk on the Saturday afternoon in the splendid South Yorkshire countryside putting into practice what you have learnt in the classroom. This course is FREE for people on certain types of benefits or without full level 2 qualifications (i.e five GCSE’s) . A small fee of £39 is charged for other applicants and this includes tutoring, two nights accommodation and meals.
